台中公園大門前的雕塑、南夜大舞廳、森玉戲院等知名地標出自誰之手？高齡90歲的藝美式小木屋建造術家王水河，即是這些商業設計原創者，為探索王水河藝術之路，惠文高中學生花1年時間製作英文網頁，參加「國際學校網界博覽會」，勇奪「地方人物領袖」類銀獎殊榮。

王水河被譽為台灣傳奇藝術家，作品橫跨油彩、室內設計、建築、雕塑、標誌設計以及字體設計，獨樹一格的本土圓體字，還是很多老店的招牌亮點，近年來仍創作不輟。

前市議員莊乃慧是王水河的媳婦，開設太陽餅店時，特別為餅盒繪畫太陽花，和老太陽堂餅店門口畫家顏水龍畫的向日葵馬賽克壁畫相輝映，顏水龍和王水河為莫逆之交，王水河則向學生透露，雕塑「慈母」，是自己最喜歡的作品。

惠文高中學生以「中台之王，美之水河」為題設計英文網頁，還發現老雪花齋及宮台中廚房裝修原眼科等招牌全都是他的作品，也讓逐漸消失，寫出風格鮮明的「水河體」再度受重視。

參與的學生黃詠瑞表示，王水河在4、50年代設計很多知名建築，不論設計什麼，總有自己的一套，用的就是不均衡的均?，就是不對稱的均衡，藝術價值經過半世紀仍令人驚艷。

惠文高中圖書館主任蔡淇華及電腦老師黃智仁說，電腦興起，這種從民間創作的字體漸被淡忘，學生藉由採訪及學習認識王水河及台灣的歷史，街頭的建築和招牌就是課本，走出教室打開更大的視野。
